Live JockeyCam footage will be beamed into the homes of millions of race fans this weekend when it captures action from the Kentucky Derby for NBC Sports.
The 1 1/4-mile contest is among the leading events on the world sporting calendar and commonly described as the most exciting two minutes in sport. Held at the legendary Churchill Downs track in Louisville, the race is attended by 150,000 and, last year, attracted a TV audience of 14.8 million.
The Derby is also one of the oldest ongoing sporting events in the USA, having been held every year since 1875. In fact, it’s only twice moved from its regular slot of the first Saturday in May – due to World War Two in 1945 and the Covid pandemic in 2020.
And for the 2024 edition, live JockeyCam will take to the stage, with its state-of-the-art technology bringing viewers immersive pictures of the prestigious race, and others on the card.
JockeyCam Co-Founder Nathan Horrocks said, “It’s a great honour for JockeyCam to Run the Roses’ again live with NBC Sports and of course our continued thanks go the jockeys and connections which make it possible – we’ve a string of huge wins in the last 12 months and hope we can continue this weekend too.”
