Nathan: ‘JockeyCam is helping grow the sport’

Co-Founder Nathan Horrocks described how JockeyCam is helping grow the sport in an interview with leading Australian news outlet Racing.com.

Speaking at the Flemington Racecourse and Victoria Racing Club in Melbourne, where he was providing live JockeyCam pictures, Nathan explained how the evolving technology has become a crucial tool for everyone involved in racing.

“Jockey cams have been around for a long time, probably since the late 1980s, but since then the technology has gotten smaller and lighter, which is important for our riders,” he said.

“We wanted to make it a valuable tool, not only for our rider but for owners and trainers to see what’s going on out there.

“The most important thing is to grow the sport. To do that we need to help engage a younger audience but also give our current audiences an idea what it’s like for our athletes – human and equine – and of the excitement this visual brings to the sport.”
